Acoustic Woods manufactures solid spruce and cedar guitar tops from Sitka and Engelmann spruce as well as Western Red Cedar. Our primary products are acoustic tops for western size instruments and we also supply products for mandolins, violins, archtop guitars, classical size soundboards and bracing material.

All of our logs are hand picked and selected with tremendous scrutiny. Quality is our primary focal point in every aspect of our operation.
We currently manufacture ~ 250,000 solid tops per year with a steady increase in production capabilities and a consistent increase in sales both domestically and overseas. Acoustic Woods can provide small quantities of tops as well as 20' and 40' container size shipments.

We have 10 years experience in the manufacturing of solid tops in tradition style and methods which provide the finest visual appearance and superior quality sound; contrast to producing tops from lumber cants.
We strongly anticipate production growth to be over 500,000 tops anually over the next two years. see grades

master - true master grade for luthiers
AAA - near master grade for luthiers
HAA - usually sold in AAmix grade, some retail
AA - common grade for high-end factory
SA (high A grade)highest demand by large manufacturers
A - most common grade of solid top
LA -(low A grade) - will exhibit more color
B - suitable for paint grade

These are only brief labels for the range of solid tops we supply.
Classical size tops are not sorted to the same degree as western size
- AA mix - includes SA grade up to AAA grade
- A mix - includes LA grade up SA grade
Please discuss any criteria your factory deems critical, as this will insure the correct products being delivered.

#1 - very close to AAA grade, some retail
#1-2mix - highest demand by large manufacturers
#2 - light color change or slightly course grain
#3 - color change towards the outer edge of template
#4 - will exhibit strong color within the template
